The Supreme Award is the most prestigious and sought after award, to lift the trophy at the National is everyones dream and a once in a lifetime achievement, this said the list below shows that a few bird fanciers have surpassed that dream by winning the award twice. One man Walter Jones has won the coveted trophy 3 times, 2 years with the same bird a Near Clear Goldfinch Mule, what an achievement and knowing Walter he hasn't finished yet. J Dalrymple won the award twice with the same bird a Crossbill Mule, Harry Bryan won twice, Grosvenor Ridgway twice, Ron Langley twice, J E Williams twice, John Broadbent twice Chris & Sam Goodhall also won twice But Raymond Sawyer holds the record with 5 wins all with different birds I feel this record will take a lot to beat, but records are for beating so who knows it could be you. Below is a list of winners, prior to 1951 there was no best in show winner, the Sir Richard Haddon trophy was presented for the first time that year. 1951 / 52 the show was held November / December, there was no show in 1953. From 1954 to 1959 the show was held in January, it was then decided to revert to December so to avoid a long gap between shows they held a second show in December. |
